Active Support
Active Support is a great way for adults to volunteer some of their free time to Scouting, in a way which suits you. One of the main advantage of Active Support is that adults could be asked to contribute skills, resources and time to - for example - a Beaver colony one week, and then the County campsite the next. The breadth of projects that require adult support to keep them maintained is massive.
Examples
- A new Beaver Colony has just opened in a District. Members of that District's Active Support Unit, who have experience of running a Beaver Colony, could be asked to support the new Colony's leadership team for the first few weeks.
- An Assistant Scout Leader is on maternity leave. A member of the District's Active Support Unit could be asked to act as the ASL for the duration of the maternity leave.
- Bowley could do with a lick of paint from time to time. It's a resource we all use, so it's great to get as many people to maintain the site as possible. The Active Support Unit could be asked to help contribute time, effort and resources to the upkeep of the site.
